About
A community effort, the Vincennes Farmers Market has achieved its goal of becoming a habitual destination for shoppers from 7:00 a.m. until noon every Wednesday and from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. every Saturday from late May until early October. Located in historic Downtown Vincennes at the corner of Second & Busseron Streets next to the Old State Bank, the Farmers Market is attracting crowds from around the region after just a few years in operation. Supported by the nonprofit Farmers Market Alliance, the endeavor has united the best local produce growers with civic leaders who envisioned shopping with flair.
On Saturday mornings from late May to early October, lovers of fresh fruits and vegetables can fill their pantries while also browsing booths selling homemade wood crafts, quilts, fresh and dried flowers, and homemade bread. Managed by a farmer, the produce market offers local growers an opportunity to sell the fruits of their labor, from melons, to sweet corn, to potatoes, to apples.
While looking, shoppers can relax to music from gospel to instrumental. They can even learn to make culinary masterpieces from local chefs. A major summer attraction, the Vincennes Farmers Market has captured the charm, grace and intimacy of traditional outdoor European shopping.
