Planet Organics is a locally owned and family operated home delivery service offering top quality organic and local produce, artisan foods, groceries, household items, and organic prepared meals to food lovers throughout Northern California.
Planet Organics began in San Francisco in 1997, when Larry Bearg and Lorene Reed became parents and learned that pesticides negatively impact young children far more than adults. They committed to feeding their children healthy organic food and soon decided to provide a convenient solution to families all over the Bay Area who had the same commitment, but lacked the time and easy access to healthy organic food.
Since then their vision has grown to encompass a dedication to supporting local sutainable family food businesses in the Bay Area and creating a community which brings together local food lovers and food producers.
Home deliveries are ordered via the company's easy-to-use Web site, which features the finest seasonal, local produce, grocery basics such as dairy, eggs, meats, and specialty food items such as organic chocolates, artisan cheeses and fresh-baked breads. A wide selection of home essentials such as natural baby products, household items, and health and beauty care items are also available.
The company also offers organic prepared meals and meal kits with enticing soups, entrees, side dishes and desserts that provide delicious healthy meals in minutes.
The convenience of home delivery can save the average Bay Area shopper more than 4 hours a week in time wasted sitting in traffic, fighting for parking, enduring long check-out lines and carrying heavy bags to and from the car. New mothers, working mothers, and busy professionals no longer need to visit the grocery store for food and household items.
Planet Organics is committed to socially responsible business practices and donates funds and product to many Bay Area organizations including more than $30,000 annually to Bay Area schools through the eScrip program. In 2007, Planet Organics donated more than 1,000 pounds of food to foodbanks such as St. Anthony’s Foundation to help support less fortunate community members.
