We offer subscribers vegetables they recognize (e.g. greens, beans, beets, carrots, onions, broccoli, cucumbers, cauliflower, tomatoes, peppers, squashes, potatoes) and a few that might be new (kohlrabi, eggplant, delicata squash, snapes) as well as herbs, berries and apples. Subscribers receive a weekly newsletter describing the week's crate of produce, along with a recipe or two and suggestions for what to do with less familiar vegetables. We offer 1/2 doz egg shares/week from our hens, and subscribers will be first in line for honey from the August harvest. Hearty fresh bread may also be available for purchase on pick-up days. Interested subscribers may have access to extra tomatoes and beans for preserving assuming we have a surplus.
We are 4th generation Oregonians with farming in our bones. Mark grew up farming hazelnuts and walnuts with his family outside of Forest Grove and Lisa has most always grown something--even if only a salsa garden in raised beds in the city. After discovering companion gardening, we mingled flowers amongst the vegetables, fruits, and herbs last year, making Fern Creek beautiful, peaceful and functional. We grow vegetables and fruit for the joy of it, to support local agriculture, and to foster links between people, the food they eat, and the farmers who grow it.
We offer our CSA subscribers access to Fern Creek on pick-up days, where they can take a farm tour, wander in the forest, sit down by the creek, visit the bee hives or hens, and bring a supper to eat on the picnic tables.
