We are offering 20-week Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) share subscriptions for the 2010 summer growing season. We will offer convenient pickup at the farm, our farm business office (and home) in North Portland, or at a centrally located Farmers' Market in Portland.
Subscription to a farm allows the you to know exactly where and how your food is produced. We share in the benefits and risks of the farming venture. For instance, if there is a bumper tomato crop and a shortage of broccoli, then you would receive more tomatoes, and less broccoli.
The share volume will vary with the season (lighter in the spring), but a typical share will fill a grocery bag. Our goal is to provide our subscribers produce at a better value than would be available at Farmers Market. Talk to us about your planned vacations before hand (we give up to two weeks credit, payable in canning or storage vegetables).
Here is an partial list of the crops we will be growing: Swiss chard, radish, lettuce, snow peas, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, beets, kale, mustard greens, collards, cabbage, kolrabi, green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, specialty onions, summer squash, zucchini, winter squash, pumpkin, corn, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and celery.
Full-share subscribers will be provided with fresh vegetables once per week. The half-share subscribers will be provided with vegetables every other week.
We encourage subscribers to volunteer at the farm for a suggested 4 hours (10 week share) or 8 hours (20 week share) during the growing season. This helps build community, allows subscribers to connect with where their food comes from, and helps keep subscription costs low. Call Jennifer to schedule volunteer hours.
